Subnautica 2 tool upgrade

Subnautica 2 Feedback Resonator Guide

Feedback Resonator is the upgrade that makes the Sonic Resonator useful at a distance. That sounds small until the Alien Ruins route starts throwing Bloom Cankers, hostile caves, and deep-device handoffs at you.

Quick answer

Get the Sonic Resonator first, then scan Feedback Resonator fragments in the deep Alien Ruins / Metal Farms route and craft the upgrade at a Modification Station. Current public data points to Sonic Resonator x1, Enameled Glass x2, Conduit Crystal x2, and Strontium x2. The P8 footage reinforces the route logic: this is a deep alien-device chain, so bring Tadpole depth, repair, healing, power, and a marked exit before chasing range upgrades.

Field notes for the deep device route

This is not a casual tool pickup

Distance, depth, and exit clarity matter more than the fragment count. If Tadpole depth, repairs, or healing are not ready, the scan can turn into a rescue trip.

Do not fake the material chain

Enameled Glass, Conduit Crystal, and Strontium are expensive enough to stage before the scan run if you want to build the upgrade in the same session.

Build it for the Bloom chain

The useful destination is not random mining. Feedback Resonator range pays off when Bloom Cankers and alien-site objectives start punishing close approaches.

Before scanning Feedback Resonator

  • Sonic Resonator exists before you chase the upgrade.
  • Tadpole Depth Module, Repair Tool, healing, and spare power are ready.
  • Exit marker is set before entering the green or purple alien route.
  • Enameled Glass x2, Conduit Crystal x2, and Strontium x2 are planned.
  • Next route is Axum Vision, Bloom Canker clearing, or a named objective.

Video stills for the P8 Resonator route

These P8 Bilibili frames show the route context behind the upgrade: deep alien devices, Bloom caverns, and objective handoffs where range and return planning matter.

The route starts as a deep-device investigation

Around 10:20, the P8 route is already near 414 m with alien structures, hostile water, and tool prompts. Treat the Resonator chain as a deep route, not a quick pickup.

Bloom areas explain why range matters

Around 24:45, the route moves through a purple Bloom cavern. This is the kind of space where a ranged Sonic upgrade is safer than forcing close contact.

Read the handoff before leaving the site

Around 30:10, the route gives another story and objective handoff near an alien structure. Leave only after you have the clue, a marked return, and enough power for the next leg.

Feedback Resonator route plan

Start with the Sonic Resonator

Feedback Resonator modifies the Sonic Resonator. If the base tool is not built yet, this route is premature. Use Sonic Resonator prep for ore, Bloom Biofilm, and Conduit Crystal planning before you spend time hunting the upgrade.

Treat the scan as a deep route

PC Gamer places Feedback Resonator fragments around the glowing green abyssal pool / Metal Farms route northeast of the Alien Ruins Research Base. The P8 footage matches the feel of that chain: deep water, alien structures, limited visibility, and repeated handoffs.

Scan, mark, and leave cleanly

Subnautica 2 Guide lists Feedback Resonator as a blueprint unlocked through fragment scanning. Once the blueprint is handled, do not keep wandering just because the route is visually interesting.

Craft it at the Modification Station

Current public data lists Sonic Resonator x1, Enameled Glass x2, Conduit Crystal x2, and Strontium x2. If the Modification Station is not unlocked yet, solve that support chain before returning to deep errands.

Use range on Bloom hazards

The P8 Bloom cavern frames show why range matters: tight purple routes and hazardous growths punish close contact. Back up, fire from safer distance, and keep oxygen and vehicle return in mind.

Connect it to Axum Vision

Feedback Resonator should feed the next alien-site chain: Bloom Canker clearing, Angel Comb, Axum Vision, and Karakorum Power Plant objectives. Build it when you are ready to use it, not just to fill the PDA.

Before you leave base

CheckWhy it matters
Sonic ResonatorRequired as the base tool and still useful for mining and prep routes.
Tadpole Depth ModuleThe route belongs to deeper alien-site progression, not shallow scouting.
Repair Tool and healingDeep scans become expensive when one bad attack blocks the return.
Fragment scansUnlock the blueprint before expensive crafting materials matter.
Enameled Glass x2Pulls in glass and Creature Enamel planning.
Conduit Crystal x2Tied to deeper Alien Ruins and power-route material planning.
Strontium x2Tied to Celestine and processed material prep.
Modification StationNeeded for the tool upgrade craft.

This is a late-route tool, not a flex item

The scan route sits near hostile water, deep structures, Bloom caverns, and Conduit Crystal temptation. Pick one main job before leaving base. If the blueprint unlocks, go home and build the upgrade instead of turning the return trip into a sightseeing tour.

FAQ

How do you unlock the Feedback Resonator in Subnautica 2?

Scan Feedback Resonator fragments, then craft the upgrade at a Modification Station. Current guides point to deeper Alien Ruins, green abyssal pool, and Metal Farms-style routes.

Do I need the Sonic Resonator first?

Yes. Feedback Resonator is a modification of the Sonic Resonator, and the Sonic tool also helps with material prep around the route.

What is the Feedback Resonator recipe?

Current public data lists Sonic Resonator x1, Enameled Glass x2, Conduit Crystal x2, and Strontium x2 at the Modification Station.

What does the P8 video add to this guide?

It shows the upgrade route as an alien-device chain with deep water, Bloom caverns, and route handoffs, which explains why depth, power, and return planning matter before the craft.

Why do you need it for Axum Vision?

Later Angel Comb and Axum Vision routes involve Bloom Cankers and alien-site objectives where ranged clearing is safer than close swimming.

Checked June 7, 2026 against PC Gamer, Subnautica 2 Guide, and the Bilibili P8 alien-device route footage. Subnautica 2 is in Early Access, so fragment positions, recipe counts, projectile behavior, and Bloom Canker requirements should be rechecked after patches.
